Mike Srokowski, Chief Executive Officer

Following his early career in the offshore oil industry and, subsequently, as a business development manager for a subsidiary of one of the largest credit hire organizations, Mike started his own successful insurance services and credit hire business. Over time it became evident that the inherent levels of conflict within the industry were driving up costs on both sides, and Mike saw that a gap in the market existed for the provision of an efficiency-based solution. In 2006, together with a colleague, he developed the initial concept and business plan behind Validus. Mike holds an MBA from the University of East Anglia.

Edwyn van Rooyen, Legal Services Director

Since his arrival from South Africa in 2003, Edwyn has developed a thorough understanding of the legal arguments and processes that have governed the evolution of the credit hire industry since its inception. His initial knowledge, gained over five years working as Operations Manager for a successful credit hire company, has been enhanced significantly through his role as Legal Services Director with Validus, of which he was a co-founder. Edwyn holds a First Class law degree and a Masters degree with distinction in Law from Nottingham University. 

James Duez, Chief Technology Officer

James trained as a software developer and began his career at Aviva before leaving to start up his own eLearning consultancy.  A former international board director of Easy i Group, James launched a number of learning-based technology platforms, and stayed on with the business after Easy I was sold to Australian tech business SAI Global. After supporting further M&A activity for the business, and supporting business development for SAI’s compliance division, James joined Validus in 2007 to oversee the design and implementation of the company’s market leading technology propositions.
